Cushions, Throws & Pouffes
Cushions, throws and pouffe:
A cushion is a soft sack filled with decorative material typically cotton, wool, hair, and/or feathers. It can be used to soften the hardness or appearance of a chair or couch, to sit or kneel upon, or both. The cover of decorative cushions frequently has a design, and they are used to decorate furniture.
The cushion is a very old piece of furniture. An early Middle Ages inventory, palaces and grand houses frequently made reference to them. Cushions were frequently very large, leather-covered, and sturdy enough to be used as seats, but over time, all furniture has had a consistent trend to go smaller. The cushion is now viewed as a piece of upholstery.
When possible, cushions help people sit more upright and in a neutral posture while also providing comfort and pressure relief.
The earliest known use dates to early Mesopotamian civilizations around 7,000 BC. The more cushions you possessed, the more prosperous you were perceived to be.
A throw pillow, also known as a toss pillow, is a little, decorative soft furniture item made of a variety of materials, including cotton, linen, silk, leather, and velvet.
Throw pillows are frequently used in interior design, and they are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and ornamental features like tassels and piped edges.
From a functional perspective, throw pillows may provide back, neck and head support.
